MEET VANESSA TRAINA
In May 2010, Judith Milgrom was flipping through the newspaper while sipping her tea. When she looked up, her eyes dwelled on the silhouette of a young American woman. The woman’s style was her own, unique, with an extremely chic, biker look. Her name? Vanessa Traina, 24 years old and already on her way to becoming the latest fashion icon. Spotted by the most influential magazines, followed by bloggers and a friend of New York’s new wave of designers, she is the girl of the hour. After exchanging a few e-mails and late night phone calls, her agent agreed and a date was set. Vanessa travelled to Paris to meet Judith.
The pressure intensified as the big day came closer; everyone at the design studio waited patiently until the slender silhouette appeared. Her impeccable politeness, coupled with an irresistible smile, conquered Judith instantly. The meeting turned into a working session. An exchange of ideas, some fittings and enlightened conversations were enough to convince Judith: Vanessa would be Maje’s muse for the next two advertising campaigns. But that’s not all. As Judith got to know Vanessa, she learned more about Vanessa’s passion for fashion and her potential as a stylist. Vanessa was already very involved in the fashion sphere and did consulting work for some of the great fashion houses. Judith entrusted Vanessa with the design of a 14-piece capsule collection. With all the freedom she needed, Vanessa illustrated her vision of fashion in accordance with her true self. Inspired by the 90s, she created minimalist, chic and refined pieces. Conceived in silk and delicate lace, each garment expressed sensuality and precision of form. The capsule collection was sold in Barneys and also Maje shops worldwide.
